Applications are invited for an Assistant/Associate Professorship (University Lecturer/Senior Lecturer) in the field of Vertebrate Systems Neuroscience to be held in the Department of Physiology Development and Neuroscience. We are searching for a talented individual with an excellent track record in research and a commitment to teaching across a range of subjects. The post is available from 1st January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The department offers a world class research and teaching environment with research groups focussed on Cellular and Systems Physiology, Developmental Biology and Reproduction and Neuroscience. ( ) We welcome applicants who will synergise and enhance the existing neuroscience research in the department as well as develop their own independent research area. We particularly encourage applicants who are using animal models to study aspects of systems neuroscience.The successful applicants will have a PhD in a relevant subject area and show evidence of leading a successful research programme. Applicants will also have an aptitude and enthusiasm for teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and will be expected to contribute to teaching and other academic activities in the Department and more widely in the School of Biological Sciences, including the design and delivery of undergraduate and graduate lecture courses, examinations and other forms of assessment.The starting salary is dependent on the level of appointment being made, as determined by the Selection Committee. Assistant Professorships will start in the range of £45,585 – £57,696 per annum; Associate Professorships will start in the range of £61,1987 – £64,914 per annum.The Department is committed to the Athena SWAN scheme to provide equal opportunities and to advance the representation of women and other under-represented groups in science.
