The rank will be determined according to the chosen candidates’ qualifications and experience. This position is a contract faculty position and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The Department of Pediatrics is a leader in academic medicine, and our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH) of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are represented at the MCH. The Research Institute of the MUHC has a Centre for Innovative Medicine platform to facilitate clinical trials.The Division of Pediatric Neurology is a clinically and academically outstanding group. We currently have 8 fulltime McGill faculty, including externally-funded fundamental and clinical researchers. All division members are involved in teaching. Strongly committed to multi-disciplinary care, the Division provides both outpatient and inpatient consultation to all areas of the hospital, and offers the full range of services.The Division has an active, fully accredited Royal College Child Neurology Residency program and numerous fellowships. We provide a full range of child neurology services through a multidisciplinary team approach. We have excellent clinical programs in neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, neonatal neurology, and neurogenetics.Job Duties:The successful candidate will be an active physician member of the Division of Child Neurology at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, MUHC. Candidates are expected to cover on-call duties in Pediatric Neurology 1:9. Clinician-educators are expected to cover the consult service 6-10 weeks per year and hold 5 half-day outpatient clinics (in the hospital setting and in private offices around Montreal) per week. Supervision of house staff (Fellows, residents and medical students) is required for both the consult service and in external clinics.For the successful candidate, involvement in research will be strongly encouraged and supported. Supervision of undergraduate and graduate trainees and participation in the pediatric neurology subspecialty training program is expected. Physicians in the Division of Child Neurology are also expected to contribute to our interdisciplinary education mission, supporting the education and professional development of nurses and nurse practitioners. Clinical innovations that could be implemented in our environment would also be viewed as assets.McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community.   • hold an MD or MDCM degree;
  • have completed specialty training in Child Neurology with certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent);
  • hold or be eligible for licensure to practice medicine from the Collège des médecins du Québec;
  • possess excellent leadership and strong communication skills;
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
