Teaching duties will be assigned on our Waterloo and Brantford campuses. To be considered for an associate professor appointment, a candidate must meet the Laurier criteria for such an appointment at the time of appointment.The position is open to candidates who hold a completed PhD or Doctorate in Education (EdD) by the start of the appointment.The duties and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Teach core courses in Science/STEM Education in the Bachelor of Education.
  • Provide leadership and program development in the area of Science/STEM Education in teacher education.
  • Teach courses in other programs in the Faculty of Education (Bachelor of Education, Master of Education, PhD in Educational Studies, Bachelor of Arts in International Education Studies, and/or in the Education Minor programs).
  • Engage in an active research program related to Science/STEM Education and/or related fields.
  • Engage in leadership and active service to the Faculty and the University.

Successful candidates must:

  • Provide evidence of effective teaching of courses related to Science/STEM Education in a post-secondary teacher education context.
  • Provide evidence of teaching diverse groups of learners and incorporating equity and inclusion into their pedagogy and practices.
  • Have a minimum of three years teaching experience in K-10 contexts with a Science/STEM Education focus.
  • Provide evidence of a productive research program in Science/STEM Education and/or related fields appropriate to their rank.
  • Show evidence of leadership in program development in post-secondary teacher education contexts and/or in national or international educational communities.
  • Be eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate level.

  • Have teaching qualifications, with preference given to candidates holding Ontario College of Teachers certification.
  • Have teaching experience in Ontario.
  • Have experience teaching at the graduate level.
  • Has teaching experience in quantitative research methods courses at the graduate level.
