Location: University ParkApplications are invited for an academic post of Assistant Professor in Aerospace Engineering (Aerospace Control and Avionic Systems) at the University of Nottingham within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.We are seeking enthusiastic candidates who are committed to teaching and to delivering an exceptional student experience within this leading Department and who also aspire to be internationally excellent in research.Candidates should have a PhD in Electrical and Electronic or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related subject and have relevant postdoctoral research experience.Candidates should be able to clearly demonstrate extensive knowledge of control system design with a strong focus on aerospace control in a flight dynamics context. Additionally, candidates should have an in-depth knowledge of avionic systems for aircraft and spacecraft.The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering within our Aerospace Engineering programmes, which are run jointly with the Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering.The successful candidate will be expected to deliver/revise existing modules and contribute strongly to the subsequent innovation of curriculum content in Aerospace Control and Avionic Systems. Other teaching assignments will include tutorials, and the supervision of group/individual project work.For reference, details of existing modules on our Aerospace Engineering programmes may be found at .The successful candidate will be expected to undertake new and original research (including the supervision of PhD students) in an area aligned to one or more of the Faculty of Engineering’s Research Centres/Institutes/Groups, including the Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Centre, the Nottingham Geospatial Institute (NGI), and the Mechanical and Aerospace Systems (MAS) Research Group.The successful candidate will be expected to apply for, and also support other colleagues applying for, external funding to enable development of their research which aligns to our strategic priorities and allows them to develop their research independence and leadership.This post is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours).
