This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital, a member facility of the CIUSSS-West-Central Montreal. The Division of Neurology has active clinical and basic research programs in cerebrovascular disease as well as clinical and clinical research programs in movement disorders, behavioural neurology, demyelinating diseases, autonomic nervous system disorders, neuromuscular diseases and basic science research activities in the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration; the Division also leads strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine.The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is part of McGill University, Canada’s most international university, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the francophone province of Quebec. The neuroscience community at McGill and in greater Montreal is one of the largest and most diverse in North America.Job DutiesThe successful candidate will contribute to a strong interdisciplinary clinical and/or research program in clinical neurophysiology and autonomic neurology at McGill University and will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., teaching, research, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the Division of Neurology and be expected to provide excellent clinical teaching while pursuing scholarly activities and advancing clinical care in clinical neurophysiology and autonomic neurology.McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Applicants must hold, or be eligible for, licensure as a neurologist in the province of Quebec;
  • Clinician-Scientists with MD-PhD or equivalent research-intensive training are strongly encouraged to apply;
  • Applicants must have advanced training, a demonstrated capacity to excel in academic neurology;
  • Applicants must have specialized expertise in clinical neurophysiology, including at least one year of training at a recognized training program, and possess or intend to obtain Canadian Society of Clinical Electrophysiologists certification in Electromyography;
  • Applicants must have specialized expertise in autonomic nervous system disorders, including at least one year of training at a recognized training program, and possess or intend to obtain United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties certification in autonomic disorders;
  • Applicants must have the skill to maintain an autonomic reflex laboratory with advanced testing capabilities and must commit to further developing and maintaining a well-defined clinical and clinical research program in autonomic nervous system disorders;
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas;
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.
