This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.The Department’s mission is to provide excellent clinical care in an academic environment, using family systems and biopsychosocial models to understand patients and their families, and utilizes a full range of evidence-based treatments.The Department is proud to host a respectful, multi-disciplinary and inclusive work setting in its multiple areas of activity, which includes the training of a diverse group students from medicine, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, and social work. Montreal offers an extremely high quality of life and is one of the most multicultural and vibrant cities in North America.The successful candidate will be based at the JGH—a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.Job DutiesThe successful candidate will provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to residents and medical students, participate in hospital and administrative activities, and pursue scholarly activities. The candidate will carry out clinical activities in the Psychotic Disorders Program of the External Psychiatry Services. Advanced training in the form of a fellowship is required.The successful candidate will have a broad range of clinical abilities in external services with a particular proficiency in treating patients with psychosis. The applicants will also have demonstrated experience in education and/or an active research dossier.The candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), part of the CIUSSS West-Central Montreal. The Jewish General Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry, Institute of Community and Family Psychiatry, offers a full range of services for children, youth, adults and geriatric patients (inpatients and outpatients). There are active research programs in trans-cultural psychiatry, psychosocial health, psychotherapy and family therapy, sleep and aging, and first episode psychosis.McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.Qualifications and Education RequirementsCandidates must:

  • Hold an MD, and be eligible for, licensure as a psychiatrist in the province of Quebec;
  • Have advanced training and/or a fellowship in related area;
  • Demonstrate advanced capacity to engage in all aspects of a university affiliated psychiatry department (i.e., clinical, education and/or research);
  • Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families and health care professionals.
