The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the Lassonde School of Engineering at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence July 1, 2025.
We are seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in Cybersecurity, broadly defined. While our search is not limited to specific subareas, we are particularly interested in data protection, cloud security, IoT security, as well as AI and ML security. Strong applicants working in other cutting-edge or classical areas of cybersecurity are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to disseminate their research through significant journals and conferences in the field, and train students in their field of expertise. The position will involve graduate teaching and supervision, as well as undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate is expected to be an effective teacher capable of teaching in both online and in-person settings as needed.

Candidate Qualifications:
Degree: A PhD in Computer Security/Cybersecurity, or a closely related field is required, either in hand or near completion by the appointment’s start Undergraduate degrees in Cybersecurity, Computer security, or other closely related majors with a concentration or specialization in these areas will be considered an additional asset.
Scholarship:
• A coherent and well-articulated program of research and specialization in one or more areas of Cybersecurity.
• A record or evident promise of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research and/or research creation.
• A record of evident promise of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field (e.g., a research statement, a record of publications or forthcoming publications in significant journals or conferences in the field; awards and accolades; and/or strong recommendations from referees of high standing).
Teaching:
• A record of or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments, pedagogical innovations, official student and peer evaluations).
• Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will involve graduate teaching and supervision.
