ARTS422224We are delighted to be recruiting two new permanent colleagues to join the flourishing Department of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies at the University of Nottingham. They will join a thoroughly interdisciplinary community of scholars with global perspectives and approaches and contribute to a vibrant and collegial research-led learning environment. In 2025-26, we are launching a completely new suite of undergraduate programmes aiming to position our world-leading research at the centre of the learning experience and prepare our students to be critical, active and adaptive participants in the increasingly complex and technologized cultural, creative and media environments of the future.To help deliver these exciting new programmes, we seek applicants with research and/or teaching expertise in one or more of the following three broad areas, ideally with knowledge and experience in one or more of the listed sub-areas, and ideally with perspectives that look beyond the global North: * International Media and Communications:
One of the two posts is a permanent Assistant Professor in Media and Cultural Studies. The successful applicant will lead and deliver individual and collaborative teaching and research in media and cultural studies, generate income by developing and winning support for innovative research proposals and funding bids, and build impactful partnerships and engagement with external organisations and publics. Applicants should have a proven track record of high-quality publications and a clear research strategy that aligns with the ambitions of the department, the School and the University.Our School thrives through the different ideas and experiences of colleagues, who come from a mix of cultures and backgrounds.
