Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.Closing Date: Monday 23 September 2024We’re looking to appoint an Assistant Professor in the School of Psychology who can demonstrate an emerging international research profile which complements and expands upon our existing research strengths.We believe that diverse teams deliver the highest quality teaching, research and student experience.   • Further increase the quality of our research activity output in publications and with external grant funding and to engage in the impact of that research
  • Pushing our discipline forward, breaking new ground (e.g. through theoretical and methodological innovations, simulations and technology)
  • Recruit and inspire the next generation of psychologists
  • Take an international perspective on how research is conducted and implemented

This post involves lecturing, running seminars, conducting assessments, devising and overseeing research projects (BSc, MSc) and pastoral care to students. The provision of deep learning is required to achieve high student satisfaction – the ability to design, plan and deliver high quality teaching which can be evaluated and reflected upon to achieve the highest outcomes is essential.Designing and leading independent research programmes and pursuing the relevant funding to achieve their aims is essential. This involves; supervising and line managing research students and researchers, presenting and interpreting outcomes and findings and engaging outside the university to apply and influence policy makers and the scientific community.The job involves demonstrating high level interpersonal skills with people from around the word with different needs; working within the university’s regulations and governance in relation to teaching; and getting up to speed with our systems.The successful candidate will need to be flexible, at times might be expected to teach outside of their research area and make a wider contribution to the school and institution. They need to be collegiate, involving themselves in additional activities, working in a team to deliver key projects and taking opportunities to represent the school to the outside world.A PhD or equivalent in a subject area related to Psychology is essential.The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), permanent contract.
