The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, invites applications from well-qualified individuals for an Assistant Professor-in-Residence of Public Law starting in the fall semester of 2025. At UNLV, faculty-in-residence are full-time, non-tenure-track, instruction-intensive faculty members with a promotional track from Assistant Professor-in-Residence, to Associate Professor-in-Residence, to Professor-in-Residence. Faculty-in-Residence in the Department of Political Science participate in departmental meetings and committees, and they contribute to departmental deliberation and decision making on most matters. Job responsibilities include teaching twelve credits in each of the fall and spring semesters, which may include a mixture of in-person and online classes. In addition to teaching introductory courses in American politics, the successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the American judicial process and various topics in constitutional law from a social science perspective. Other responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate students and providing appropriate levels of service at the department, college, and university levels. The department is interested in candidates whose professional experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Applicants must also demonstrate a documented record of excellent teaching at the college level. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
