The Department of Population Medicine, Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph invites applications for a one-year contractually limited position at the Assistant Professor level in Theriogenology.
Applicants will have a DVM degree and additional advanced training in the field of Theriogenology, such as a Residency and/or a post-graduate degree, consisting of either a MSc or doctorate (PhD, DVSc or equivalent) in Theriogenology. Board-certification by the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT) is preferred, however ACT-Board-eligible candidates will also be considered. Previous experience teaching didactic lectures, laboratories, and provision of clinical training in Theriogenology to DVM students and/or residents are considered assets. Successful candidates will have multi-species experience in Theriogenology with an emphasis in equine.
The successful candidate will teach assigned Theriogenology course lectures on various topics, as well as bovine and equine transrectal palpation, obstetrics, and semen analysis laboratories. Additionally, the successful candidate will coordinate and teach final-year DVM Equine Theriogenology rotations. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required, and the successful candidate will use these skills in cooperation/collaboration with other faculty, staff, and students. A willingness to collaborate in, and support, ongoing research programs in Theriogenology or related areas is required. The successful candidate will contribute to Theriogenology resident and graduate student training at the MSc, and doctoral levels (PhD or DVSc) within the Department of Population Medicine and the OVC Health Sciences Centre, through participation in a busy clinical caseload at the referral hospital.
