Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.The Department of Infection Biology is looking to appoint an Assistant Professor with a specialism in the infection biology of Gram-negative bacteria causing respiratory infections.The post-holder will have a doctoral degree and at least five years of postdoctoral experience relevant to infectious diseases. The post-holder will have an excellent publication record as lead and co-author and experience in conducting multidisciplinary research to investigate the interface between Gram negative pathogens and the innate immune system leveraging molecular and cellular microbiology, biochemistry, immunology and in vitro (high-throughput research platforms) in vivo translational models of research. The post-holder will be a senior member of Professor José Bengoechea’s research team to support him to deliver the externally funded research program focusing on dissecting the infection biology of antibiotic-resistant infections, particularly those caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae. Further particulars are included in the job description.The post is full-time, 1 FTE and fixed term until 31st January 2030.The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 7 in the range £52,199 – £59,623 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
