The School of Education invites applications from candidates for a Contractually Limited Term (CLT) Position in the areas of Foundations and Inclusive Education at the rank of Assistant Professor (or Lecturer) commencing on December 1, 2024. The successful applicant is expected to teach required B.Ed. coursework in Foundations (Sociological, Historical, Philosophical Foundations of Education) and Inclusive Education (Curriculum Practice for Diverse Learners).
Required Qualifications:
1) Depth and breadth of work examining, designing and developing inclusive practices to support diverse learners’ progress and transitions through the education system.
2) Experience with relevant policies and curriculum documents.
3) Experience with research- informed instructional theories and practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
4) Current and relevant research and scholarly activity, or professional/ community-based project work, or curriculum development in the areas of Foundations and Inclusive Education.
Experience in post-secondary teacher education and/or teacher development is an asset.
Academic Qualifications: A completed graduate degree in education is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed or are near completion of a doctorate in Education (or a field relevant to the position). EDUC 4263 Curriculum Practices for Diverse Learners
This course engages with relevant policies and curriculum documents as well as research informed instructional theories and practices related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Pre-service teachers will examine, design and develop inclusive practices to support diverse learners’ progress and transitions through the education system.
EDUC 41F3 Sociological, Historical, Philosophical Foundations of Education
Enacting culturally and socially responsive pedagogy is the responsibility of every teacher. Effective teachers work to understand diverse people, histories and cultures. Using theory from education’s foundations disciplines, this course provides pre-service teachers with a set of lenses through which to understand and address endemic social inequality in schools and society.
