The successful candidate will lead a research program in innate or adaptive immunity in the context of health or disease. The starting date for this position will be no earlier than July 1, 2025.The position requires a PhD, postdoctoral experience, and a strong record of research achievements and publications in this field. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an innovative, externally-funded and internationally-competitive research program; supervise graduate students and postdoctoral fellows; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in immunology; and participate in service to the department, university, and academic/scientific community. They will have a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, to create a welcoming community for all, particularly those who are historically, persistently or systemically marginalized.The successful candidate will become a member of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology ( ). The Department includes 25 research faculty with strengths across the disciplines of, immunology, molecular virology, and microbiology including viral immunology, autoimmunity, innate and adapative immunity, host-microbiota and host-pathogen interactions. The successful applicant will establish their laboratory in the Life Sciences Institute ( ), which houses 85 laboratories across 10 departments, facilitating cross-disciplinary collaborations. Additional collaborative opportunities can be found within the Immunotherapeutics Research excellence cluster and the diverse community of immunologists, cell and molecular biologists, neuroscientists, biomedical engineers and clinicians at UBC and affiliated hospitals. Outstanding core facilities at UBC support state-of-the-art single-cell and next-generation sequencing; flow cytometry, cell sorting, and mass cytometry; confocal, live-cell, and super-resolution microscopy; electron microscopy and cry-electron tomography; mass spectroscopy and proteomics; RNA lipid nanoparticle synthesis; and bioinformatics.
