Job Posting: Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track)

The Faculty of Health and Social Development at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus invites applications for a full-time tenure-track teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing July 1, 2024.

The ideal candidate will have a strong record of anti-oppressive clinical practice experience and capacity to teach clinical courses at the MSW level, combined with teaching, experience in curriculum design, and the ability to build an integrative curriculum into the School of Social Work’s strategic vision. A record of publication, while not required, is also ideal for the candidate to possess. An M.S.W. is required, and a Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field or D.S.W. is preferred.

The ideal candidate will also have social work knowledge and direct practice experience with Indigenous peoples and/or ethnocultural minority populations in Canada along with expertise in critical anti-colonial and anti-oppressive pedagogies. Experience working with Indigenous communities and Indigenous peoples in clinical practice and/or community-based outreach, and demonstrated ability to build collaborative and collegial relationships with Indigenous communities, including the Syilx Okanagan nation is highly desirable. Understanding of the complexities of histories, narratives and social systems that contribute to systemic racism in Canada and internationally is essential.
