Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of pathobiology of disease. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025.We seek a candidate who will develop an outstanding, innovative research program to address fundamental biological questions pertinent to health and disease. The successful candidate will complement the Department’s existing research strengths in cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, systems biology, functional genomics and proteomics, informatics, artificial intelligence, and translational research as applied to human disease. We also encourage applicants interested in emerging fields or interdisciplinary areas of research.Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in the area of life sciences, mechanisms of disease or a related field, at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, and a record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate is expected to mount an original, competitive and independently funded research program, and to actively participate in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum.Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by publications in leading journals in the field, the submitted research statement, presentations at conferences, awards, and strong endorsement from referees. Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments, and the teaching dossier, including a teaching statement, and sample course materials, and teaching evaluations or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or conference presentations or posters.
