About the roleAre you an experienced practitioner or academic in Social Work looking for a role that provides you with the opportunity to bring your professional expertise of contemporary practice into university level programmes to inform the delivery of exceptional teaching and support student success?If so, the Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing provides an opportunity for you to join a high-quality team delivering education using a variety of innovative teaching and learning methods at all academic levels from undergraduate to doctoral study. Working in the Department you will be a member of a vibrant academic community that is multidisciplinary and committed to making a difference to the health and social care of individuals and communities.You will be responsible for contributing to an exceptional student experience through the delivery of teaching, practice, knowledge exchange, scholarship and business and enterprise engagement activity. You will teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in social work and potentially the wider department. You will support student recruitment through open days and interviews and act as a personal tutor for students.Further information about the Assistant Professor (Practice) role is available in theThis role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.About the teamThe Department of Social Work, Education and Community Wellbeing is one of five departments within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. Through our teaching and research the Department aims to challenge educational, social and health inequalities and focus on championing social justice. Our work is subsequently structured into three layers; firstly, people and communities, secondly practice and practitioners and thirdly overarching systems. In doing so, the Department plays a significant role in aiding societal recovery and repair beyond the pandemic. We are seeking a knowledgeable and skilled individual to join our successful and highly committed team.About youApplicants should hold a first degree in a relevant subject and professional qualification or substantial professional experience in social work. Evidence of registration with Social Work England (SWE) or eligibility/willingness to register with SWE on appointment is desirable.
