Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.RANK: Assistant Professor (tenure track)FACULTY: UBCO-Faculty of Health and Social DevelopmentDEPARTMENT: School of Social WorkLOCATION: University of British Columbia – Okanagan campus in Kelowna, BCDESCRIPTION: The School of Social Work at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan campus invites applications for the position of a full time Assistant Professor (tenure track) with a start date of January 1, 2025 though actual start date is negotiable.The ideal candidate will be an emerging scholar, with an established record of research, teaching and/or educational leadership. As the candidate will be teaching in a clinical graduate social work program, knowledge of and experience in clinical social work is expected. We particularly welcome applicants with knowledge of and/or expertise in clinical practice with Indigenous peoples and/or racialized individuals, couples, or families. An MSW is required with a PhD completed or in progress. The candidate should also be committed to developing meaningful partnerships and engagement within the Okanagan community including members of the Syilx Okanagan nation. Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to provide evidence of excellence in teaching and to provide service to the University and the broader academic and professional community.In particular we are seeking individuals with:

  • An established track record of post-secondary teaching, research and service.
  • Established research partnerships.
  • Knowledge of and experience in clinical social work practice.
  • A proven record of research funding.

The Advanced One-Year track services approximately 20-25 students per year, and the Foundational Two-Year track admits approximately 60 students per year. Students develop a deeper understanding of the integration of individual, relational, structural, and global factors that promote resilience and strengthen capacity. We believe that to be effective clinical social work practitioners, students must understand the dynamic interactions between the biological, psychological, and social domains.
