Assistant Professor, Tenure-track in EthicsApplications are invited from qualified individuals for a full time Assistant Professor with the Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Science. The successful candidate will be productively engaged in research in ethics, broadly construed, that bears on issues related to human health and wellness.The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Philosophy Department’s MA program, and the Certificate in Ethics, Justice and Law. In addition, the position includes participation in administrative work commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor.The College of Arts and Science offers a dynamic combination of programs in the humanities, fine arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. There are over 10,000 students and 300 faculty in the College of Arts and Science, including 9 Canada Research Chairs. The College emphasizes student and faculty research, interdisciplinary programs, community-engaged research and knowledge mobilization, and international opportunities. The areas of competence are open, but the Department has teaching needs in early modern philosophy and is particularly interested in candidates who can teach a wide range of courses in value theory.We are looking for a colleague who will pursue a vigorous program of research, and also contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the Department. We welcome linkages to current areas of research strength within the Department. Candidates demonstrating a capacity for excellence in teaching will be preferred.
