The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Regina invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Pure Mathematics, starting July 1, 2025. This position is specifically designated for candidates who selfidentify as women, aiming to address gender inequity and under-representation in the field of Mathematics. The research field is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research complements existing research strengths in our department.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and inclusive department with 23 faculty members. We pride ourselves on our supportive and collegial atmosphere, and our commitment to creating a lively and engaging academic community. We are a full member of the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences and an affiliate member of the Fields Institute.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics by the time of appointment and be committed to excellence in the three pillars of academia: research, teaching, and service. These criteria will be used to evaluate and rank the applications as detailed below.

Research: We seek a candidate with a demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research in Mathematics. The successful candidate will be expected to initiate an independent research program, secure external funding to support their research (such as an NSERC Discovery Grant), and recruit and supervise both graduate students and undergraduate honours students.

Teaching: The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and be able to teach both core mathematics courses in our undergraduate programs and graduate-level classes in their research areas.

Service: The candidate must have a commitment to academic service, both within the Department and University, and within their broader research community. The successful candidate will have demonstrated collegiality and commitment to academic service through committee work, peer review activities, and support of other academic activities (such as conference or workshop organization, or conducting seminars).

Applications must be submitted online at https://urcareers.uregina.ca/postings/16523 by October 11, 2024.
