The McGill University School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track).

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. Our mission is to train highly qualified professionals in Speech-Language Pathology and to foster the development of leading researchers in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Our clinical Master´s program offers a student-centered learning environment with small class sizes and a program of study that emphasizes the tight connection between research and clinical practice. The curriculum is focused on evidence-based speech-language pathology practice using a client-centered approach. The research program offers personalized mentoring that encourages independence and innovation. The SCSD prides itself in creating opportunities for advanced research training in Communication Sciences and Disorders while offering our research students access to our state-of-the-art facilities.
The SCSD established an interdisciplinary research and collaboration with the Centre for Research on Brain, Language and Music (https://crblm.ca/), which promotes local, national, and international research opportunities for participating faculty and students. Members of the School also participate in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation (CRIR https://crir.ca/) focused on clinical research and innovation, as well numerous other research networks.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). The incumbent will also be expected to:
• Contribute to formal teaching in the Master’s (Applied) program, including Speech-Language Pathology in the area of phonology (i.e., phonological development, assessment, and intervention);
• Supervise a diverse group of MSc and PhD students in Communication Sciences and Disorders;
• Develop an independent, externally funded research program of the highest international standards in alignment with the research priorities of the School;
• Apply for research funding;
• Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications and other knowledge translation and exchange activities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Candidates must:
• Hold a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders (or a related field);
• Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and inclusive pedagogy;
• Have the potential to pursue a successful research program in the area of phonology, literacy, or related fields;
• Provide evidence of scholarly excellence with the potential to obtain external research funding;
• Have proven track record of research productivity;
• Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within few years of appointment is preferred.
Assets:
• The completion of relevant post-doctoral training is an asset;
• The ability to teach other areas of pediatric speech language pathology is an asset;
• Clinical training and experience in Speech-Language Pathology is an asset;
