Assistant Project Officer (Nature Networks)

Job Description

To assist the Strategic Planning and Development Team to develop and deliver Nature Networks and open space projects which improve biodiversity. The role includes the provision of advice and support to project team colleagues and service contacts on aspects of the project. The Assistant Project Officer will deliver projects on Moray Council land and work with landowners and communities to deliver nature restoration and biodiversity projects throughout Moray

Requirements

  • To provide advice and support to project team colleagues and service contacts.
  • To assist in the in the delivery of nature restoration projects ensuring improvements to service delivery/operational practice.
  • To support colleagues with gathering and analysis of data and information for nature restoration projects, Climate Ready Schools and the Nature Networks.
  • Assist in developing internal and external communications.
  • To undertake associated administration including the preparation of reports and the maintenance of project documentation.

The Individual

  • Proven experience in working on projects and delivering outcomes successfully.
  • Proven experience of analysing complex information in order to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • HND or equivalent in a relevant subject such as environment or sustainability, or the ability to demonstrate the equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrable understanding of climate issues and in particular, nature-based solutions
  • Thorough understanding of national biodiversity guidance and Scottish Government Policies.
  • Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office inc. Word, Excel and Access or equivalent.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and project/budget plans.
  • Demonstrable critical analysis skills.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to engage with colleagues, partners and the public to build productive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Full driving licence. You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
  • Ability to work at different locations, at home, and occasionally outdoors depending on the service requirements.

Temporary/fixed term for 2 years.
Starting salary: £34,778.25 / £18.45 per hour
29 hours per week / 52 weeks per year.
