Assistant Ranger

South Downs National Park Authority

Location: Central Area Team; Weald and Downland Living Museum, Singleton
Hours: 37 hours per week

A great opportunity has arisen to join our Central Downs Area Team as an Assistant Ranger.

This is an entry level role critical to the work of the committed area team that has
responsibility for implementing a wide range of countryside management activities. You will be
supporting the development of a range of projects covering landscapes, biodiversity, promoting
countryside recreation and working with the community to promote understanding and encourage
involvement. You will work closely with our fantastic team of volunteers with the ultimate goal
of delivering the South Downs Partnership Management Plan and South Downs National Park
Authority’s Corporate Plan.

To be part of the team, you will need to have gained at least an Apprenticeship or Diploma in
an environmental conservation subject area. You will also need to be able to demonstrate your
ability to plan, organise and deliver practical countryside management projects and activities.
Strong team working, negotiating and interpersonal skills are key in working effectively with
partners, colleagues, volunteers & local communities to be a success in this role.
