Role & Responsibilities

Ready to get your boots muddy and make a real difference for nature? London Wildlife Trust are on a mission to recover nature in London.

Over 41% of London’s species have declined since the 1970s, and we believe it’s time for bold action. From restoring habitats and protecting wildlife to helping communities reconnect with nature, we’re working every day to create a greener, wilder city. Our network of 36 nature reserves sits at the heart of this work, providing essential havens for wildlife and inspiring spaces for people to enjoy and protect nature.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Assistant Reserves Officer to help care for some of South London’s most important wildlife sites.

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of South London’s nature reserves, helping habitats and wildlife thrive.
  • Leading practical conservation tasks and supervising volunteers, trainees, contractors and corporate groups.
  • Delivering habitat restoration projects, monitoring progress and helping manage project budgets.
  • Carrying out habitat, species and visitor surveys to support conservation and nature recovery goals.
  • Building positive relationships with volunteers, local communities, partners and stakeholders while promoting London Wildlife Trust’s work.

Our ideal Assistant Reserves Officer

  • Full valid UK manual driving license (essential for role)
  • Understanding of woodland and meadow management practises and techniques
  • Some experience of delivering practical conservation work on nature reserves, accompanied by a good range of practical land management skills (from a paid or voluntary role)

(Please see job description for full person specification)

Closing Date: 27th July at 9am
Interviews: Are scheduled to take place on 13th August and reasonable adjustments will be offered to all candidates including the choice to meet online or in-person.

Does this sound like you? We’d love to hear from you!
