THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Assistant Site Manager to join the Operations team and work closely with
our Site Managers in our South East England team having a main focus in Langley Vale Wood but
also supporting sites in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire to deliver the Trust’s woodland estate
work programme, volunteering and other operations and activities as outlined in the Strategic
Plan. 

The role will involve organising and managing a programme of works to ensure that sites are
safe, accessible, and managed to the best environmental standards, with particular adherence to
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. The work will include carrying out on-site
inspections and surveys, organising and supervising a variety of contracts, overseeing the work
of volunteers and communicating with the public. This role also has admin duties and will
require working from home to complete office based tasks.

A company car will be provided in this role.

THE CANDIDATE

You will need previous experience of working in the forestry or conservation sector in a
land-based role. Specifically, you’ll need experience of working with and managing contracts
and contractors, having responsibility for Health and Safety and have engaged with communities
and volunteers.

With a positive and results-focused approach, you’ll be proactive and ready to take
responsibility for delivering outcomes, working collaboratively across teams as well as having
the ability to work independently. You’ll be able to work and communicate with others effectively,
be organised and thorough and have high standards and expectations for the works you manage.

A full driving licence with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to
remote locations, is a must. You will be expected to live in the Region and within reach to
Langley Vale Wood and key sites in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.
