With a relatively mild winter and spectacularly warm and dry summers, Kamloops offers high quality of life.To learn more about TRU and living in Kamloops, please visit:ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism (FACT) at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for a full-time Limited Term position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor in the Tourism Management Department. This is a bi-partite position based in the Kamloops campus that involves teaching and service with a preferred starting date of August 1, 2024.The Tourism Management Department is one of three departments within FACT and offers degree, diploma and post-baccalaureate programs in tourism. The department aims to prepare graduates who:

  • Understand the breadth of tourism experiences
  • Will contribute to environmentally, socially and economically sustainable tourism
  • Recognize the importance of tourism to community development, and
  • Have the skills to provide quality experiences in the realm of tourism and can develop and manage tourism businesses with an entrepreneurial spirit

Assistant Teaching Professors at TRU teach eight undergraduate courses during the academic year. The successful candidate will engage in active service work to support our program, the department, division, and institution.QUALIFICATIONS

  • A PhD is preferred. Candidates with a relevant master’s degree combined with significant professional and teaching experience in one or more of the areas covered in our programs will be considered.
  • Evidence of successful Canadian teaching experience at the post-secondary level in two or more of the following subjects:
  • Event Management
  • Food and Beverage Management
  • Tourism and Hospitality Law
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Fundraising for Non-Profit Organizations
  • Hotel Sales and Conference Management
  • Tourism Management
  • Professional experience in one or more tourism sectors represented in our programs.
