Org. Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEis the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system, and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The overall objective of UNEP’s Climate Change Division is to deliver effective strategic guidance and highimpact action in support of the transition towards climate stability. Its work is guided by ambition, innovation, credible science, and alignment to global climate goals and needs of individual countries. The Climate Change Division works with Members States and Partners to accelerate and support a just transition by addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation through enhancing implementation capacity, provision of data information and knowledge, access to finance and technology, and building resilience. It promotes sustainable development and effective policies for climate stability; support action so that countries progress on decarbonization, dematerialization, and resilience pathways in line with their climate commitments, aspirations, and needs; and foster transparency in reporting. The position is located in UNEP’s Climate Change Division at the Paris duty station. The overall purpose of the position is to provide the Climate Change Division Administrative Officer with data driven insights at corporate level. The incumbent will act as focal point for all corporate accounts, providing key stakeholders with regular updates. This position will also fulfill the role of certifying officer.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Climate Change Division Administrative Officer and the overall supervision of the Chief, Project Management and Administration Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: I. Act as a Certifying Officer for the Division • Assist the FMO in developing the unit’s work program and budget; analyses input and formulates resource allocations by work program, or business processes. • Monitor budget/work program on a regular basis and reallocates resources as necessary • Support the implementation of procedures and systems for implementing the appropriate financial database • Contribute to the development of budgetary guidelines for own unit. II. Accounting • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand requirements and provide datadriven insights for successful reporting. • Collect, clean, and process data from various sources to ensure accuracy and reliability. • Perform adhoc analysis and generate reports to support management decisions. • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in data collection. III. General Administration • Supervise support staff as required • Perform other related administrative duties, as required (e.g., operational travel program, monitoring accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services, physical space planning and the identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software, and system• Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for datadriven planning, decisionmaking, presentation and reporting.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalenin business or public administration, finance, accounting or related field. A first level university degree ( Bachelor’s degree or equivalencombined with an additional two (2) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and nondegree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage

Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in administration, finance, accounting or related area is required. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar is required. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights is required. Experience in fund authorization and certification, including verifying and approving the execution of allocated funds and ensuring compliance with established certification standards is required. Knowledge of UN regulations and rules is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and writteis required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable. NOTE: “fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understanand ” Knowledge of” equals a rating of ” confident” in two of the four areas.

This position is temporarily available for a period of 364 days.
