Job Description Summary

The position is limited to three year renewable term.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Serve as a member of the College’s Administrative Leadership Team. Lead the development and direction of the College’s research and scholarship activities. Cultivate externally funded, faculty-led programs of research with an emphasis on NIH or NIH-similar and federal funding. This position is based on the Kingston and Providence (Nursing Education Center) campuses.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide vision and leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating the College’s research agenda and growth plan.
Oversee the College’s rankings to be competitive with R1 level institution and as published in the Blue Ridge Mountain Institute of Medical Research rankings.
Assist and advise the Dean, College of Nursing, on all matters relating to the College’s research and scholarship.
Maintain a program of research funded by NIH or equivalent source.
Oversee all fiscal activities related to the College’s sponsored projects.
Mentor faculty in the development of a program of fundable research and NIH or NIH-equivalent applications.
Mentor PhD students in the development of grant proposals.
Serve as a resource for the College while acting as a liaison with other University personnel responsible for research, including the interpretation of University and other relevant rules and regulations.
Facilitate and participate in the development of research initiatives/collaborations of relevance to diverse stakeholders from the University, government, and others outside of the University.
Engage in teaching as appropriate.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required and assigned.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers and printers, electronic mail, word processing, database management, spreadsheet software, research statistical and data analysis software as needed.
Required QualificationsREQUIRED:
1. PhD or equivalent research-focused degree.
2. Demonstrated sustained track record of NIH or equivalent funding.
3. Current NIH or equivalent funding.
4. Demonstrated achievement of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor eligible for tenure.
5. Demonstrated sustained publication record.
6. Demonstrated supervisory experience.
7. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
10. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively.
Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED:
1. RN Licensure.
