Closing date: 27/07/2025CMAC is a world-class centre of excellence for medicines manufacturing research, training and translation. Working in partnership with industry, the centre’s goal is to transform the sustainable development and manufacture of medicines through advanced processing and digital technologies and drive the digital transformation of chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC) process development using Quality by Digital Design (QbDD) approaches. CMAC’s portfolio of funded programmes is designed around four key pillars to deliver: high quality manufacturing research; skills development and training equipping the workforce of the future; effective translation of research into industry and, to sustain and develop our world leading facilities and Lab of the Future infrastructure. Further details can be found in our 2021+ Strategy (www.cmac.ac.uk).CMAC’s dynamic research portfolio includes the flagship 7 year EPSRC MediForge Industry 5.0 Medicines Manufacturing Hub for a Sustainable Future, a prestigious new EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) for Cyber-Physical systems for Medicines Development and Manufacturing (CEDAR) and the UKRPIF CMAC Data Lab capital investment. The MediForge Hub addresses the Industry 5.0 goals of sustainable, resilient and human centric medicines manufacturing through the development of cyber-physical research infrastructure and underpins a systems level approach to deliver new sustainable processes. The collaborative programme supports a team of academics, researchers, PhDs and operational staff and benefits from extensive advanced process, analytical and digital infrastructure.The comprehensive programme is informed by our demand-led vision in partnership with our Tier 1 industry members (AZ, Lilly, Roche, Chiesi, UCB, Takeda, Sanofi, Pfizer), a wide range of technology companies, academic collaborators and other stakeholders. The team currently comprises over 140 academics, staff, researchers and students and benefits from experienced industry engagement and management support teams. CMAC also operates the National Facility team to support and engage a wide user community for applied projects.
