Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As part of the Group Risk Management team (GRM), the Associate Director GRM Credit – Agricultural Markets will support many functions such as effective monitoring and control on all material Credit risks across RBC’s Commercial Lending Portfolio, as well as assessment of risks at a transactional level for each individual credit.This role balances the rewards of meeting business objectives with the risk of loss to client and shareholders while following corporate compliance and policies to maintain risk exposure within the Bank’s stated risk appetite and to operate within a legal framework and in accordance with OSFI, Basel, and other regulatory requirements.The Associate Director GRM Credit – Agricultural Markets will report to the National Director, GRM Credit Agriculture Markets.What will you do?

  • Actively participate in the communication on risk and risk appetite within the adjudication team and throughout the enterprise to maintain RBC’s strong risk culture
  • Assist with the investment in RBC’s capabilities to better measure, understand and manage risk
  • Look for, and act upon, opportunities to strengthen the efficiency, accessibility and responsiveness of key risk processes and practices
  • Coach to, as well as directly adjudicate transactions in the context business strategy and portfolio objectives while adhering to stated risk policies, procedures, and processes
  • Enhances change management by ensuring how we approach change is reflective of a One RBC mindset
  • Simplifies things that are complicated
  • Takes ownership of challenges or problems at first point of contact
  • Ensures clients and colleagues are treated with respect, empathy and integrity contributing to good working relationships
  • Ensures a strong and positive presence with our business partners virtually and/or in person as applicable e.g. joint calls to visit clients, participation in conferences, CFS team meetings, lunch and learns, etc.
  • Ensures accurate and consistent processes/controls are in place and being followed to protect shareholder interests, including, as applicable, the areas of: minimizing loss; fraud prevention; anti-money laundering; out of order security; data integrity including LGD, BRR, BCC, GBRR, CPE, FMD, SIC, SNRR, CED, etc.; covenant compliance; margin requirements; covenant breaches; negative trends in financial performance; watch list reporting; etc. and coaches to identified gaps
  • Ensures credit transactions are adjudicated within policy and product guidelines, standards, and procedures and ensures exceptions are appropriately documented and substantiated
  • Adjudicates credit as per established processes and delegated lending authorities
  • Takes initiative to proactively seek, demonstrate, and facilitate consistency in credit adjudication fully leveraging available expertise and resources, including across risk teams, and looks for opportunities to simplify things that are complicated

What do you need to succeed?Must-have:

  • 4+ years of risk management experience and/or Commercial Account Management experience within the financial business space or relevant industry.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business or Risk related field
  • Sound understanding of the role of second line of defense risk governance and experience in Risk Management
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial banking and lending products
  • Business and Financial Insight: applies business understanding to make sound decisions and solve problems in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Bank technology (Synergy, Newton etc.)

Nice-to-have:

  • In-depth knowledge of RBC Risk Policies, procedures & practices, Folios etc.
  • Proficiency with Bank Technology
  • Bilingual, Fluency in French
  • Post graduate qualifications (CFA, CMA, MBA etc.)
  • Club and Syndication financing experience.
