The Associate Director – Public Affairs is a pivotal role that requires excellent policy making and public affairs skills. The role involves managing key stakeholders, influencing policy, and advocating for clients.The successful Associate Director – Public Affairs will be expected to:Client and account management
- Provide senior counsel and strategic advice on client accounts, including regular client contact and directing and contributing to the work of account teams
- Deliver expert advice in person to senior people across a range of industries
- Manage and conduct research and analysis on political and policy issues relevant to clients
- Provide clients with political/media intelligence and insight, highlighting any implications for the client’s business
- Secure high-quality media coverage for client campaigns and reports
Expertise
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the political, business and media environment in general, with provable expertise in one or more areas relevant to clients
- Present to clients and external audiences and develop an external profile
- Write to a high standard for external publication, including reports, press releases, op-eds and blog posts
- Maintain and grow an active network of business, political and/or media contacts
New business
- Help to retain and further develop commercial activities with existing clients and where possible introduce the company to new business leads
- Contribute to new business activities including networking and pursuing leads and managing pitch processes
- Contribute to marketing activities
Team management
- Support more junior members of the team, including through line management and reviewing and feeding back on their work, as well as providing coaching and support across account teams

- Relevant academic qualifications in policy, public affairs, or related fields.
- Proven experience in a public affairs and communications agency.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Exceptional ability to influence and shape policy.
- Outstanding communication skills.
