Applicants must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as an Intensivist at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The term of appointment is five years, renewable once following a successful review. Effective start date will be July 1, 2025.An aspirational leader is sought to drive change and advance the academic enterprise of the Interdepartmental Division of Critical Care Medicine over the next five years. The ideal candidate will be an internationally respected scholar and visionary leader with sophisticated interpersonal skills. They will meaningfully engage the academic leadership of the University and the affiliated teaching hospitals to build strong cross-department and cross-discipline collaboration, bridge diverse groups, strengthen capacity in research across disciplines, and provide strong mentorship to trainees and faculty at all stages of career. The individual will establish an overarching vision and strategic direction for the Division. The Director reports directly to the Chairs of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery.The University of Toronto’s (IDCCM) is an interdepartmental division of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. It has more than 100 full-time and part-time faculty members, including those who are cross-appointed to their base-specialty departments (Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Medicine, Paediatrics and Surgery) or Pharmacy and Nursing. This interdisciplinary Division sees the greatest patient population (more than five million) of any Canadian university critical care division, and it sees the greatest diversity of patients and complexity of cases.Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto is at the centre of North America’s largest biomedical research, education and clinical care networks. Spanning the basic, clinical and rehabilitation sciences, the is one of the largest academic health centres in North America.
