It offers a uniquely stimulating environment for the study of all major fields of politics, as well as public management and public policy.Over 150 people make up the Department of Political Science including academic, teaching, and research staff, professional services, and MPhil/PhD students (for an overview of our research, see ).More details about the Department of Political Science and UCL can be found at below and at and .About the roleUCL Department of Political Science wishes to appoint a fixed term leave cover, Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Security Studies.The appointment is a full-time, fixed term appointment covering leaves taken by permanent staff, and will run from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025.The Associate Lecturer (Teaching) is expected to contribute to teaching PUBL0083 Violent and Non-Violent Conflict (PG, Term 1) and to convene POLS0072 Spread of Conflict in International Relations (UG, Term 2), plus a third module to be determined. These modules include substantial quantitative data analysis components, particularly including the use of network data.The appointee will also serve as Deputy Programme Director for the MSc Security Studies Programme.The role will include lecture and seminar teaching, student experience and support activity, and personal tutoring. The postholder will be expected to first and second mark assignments, undertake the supervision of dissertations, advise personal tutees, provide student engagement activities, and will also be expected to be available for office hours each week as required.The role also has an allocation of time for research and professional development.About youWe are seeking applicants who hold a PhD in Political Science or related subject, with teaching and research expertise in Security Studies.
