Associate Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in English Studies full time from 1st September 2025The position being offered is a full-time associate lecturer (teaching and scholarship) in English Studies at the Norwegian Study Centre (NSC), University of York, Heslington. The NSC is part of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.English Studies is an interdisciplinary area. Following Norway and the wider Nordics, English Studies has a broad definition, encompassing a number of different and inter-related fields and disciplines. NSC courses and programmes cover Contemporary English Literature, Language and Linguistic Science, Cultural Studies (including Politics, Economics, Philosophy, Sociology and History), and the Arts.Due to the teaching and research profiles of the , and the NSC’s involvement in the , the successful candidate will have a commitment to interdisciplinarity alongside teaching and research interests in one or more of the following areas:
The successful candidate will be able to use their subject-expertise to provide a contemporary and multicultural British context to international undergraduate and postgraduate students visiting York on cultural and academic exchange from Norwegian Higher Educational Institutions and select Nordic partners.The role is conceived as 37 hours per week, with teaching on campus at the University of York The position is being offered at the HERA salary grade of 6 or higher, depending on experience, which is equivalent to a yearly salary of £37,174 – £45,413.Overview of essential qualifications and skills
