Associate or Full Professor in Sports Management

The Sports Management Program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Associate or Full Professor position in Sports Management. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence 1 July 2025.

The Sports Management program https://futurestudents.yorku.ca/program/sport-management at York University accepted its first cohort of students in fall 2024 at the new Markham Campus of the University. The program is temporarily housed within the School of Human Resource Management pending the creation of a new School of Sports Management. The Sports Management Program seeks candidates who hold expertise in and are able to teach the foundational and core courses in the Bachelor of Sports Management program. Applicants should have the breadth and versatility to teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the program. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in externally funded research at the highest level.

The successful applicant will join the faculty members based at York’s new Markham Campus https://www.yorku.ca/markham/. Candidate Qualifications:
Degree: PhD in Sports Management or a related field is required.

Scholarship:
• A coherent and well-articulated program of research and specialization in Sports Management and/or related areas.
• A record of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research and/or research creation.
• A record of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field (e.g., a record of publications or forthcoming publications in significant journals in the field; presentations at major conferences; awards and accolades; and strong recommendations from referees of high standing).

Teaching:
• A record of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments; teaching evaluations; and strong letters of reference).
• Pedagogical innovations in priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning are an asset.
• Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position may involve graduate teaching and supervision.

Additional: A record of participation in academic service to the university and/or unit, including for example serving on academic committees, curriculum development, and engagement with external stakeholders.
