Ranked in the top quartile of the research-intensive business schools in the UK, SBS has an ambitious growth plan, which includes investments in people and relocation to a state of art business building.About the Department of AccountingThe Department of Accounting brings together internationally renowned academics who undertake research into, and teach, a wide range of accounting and finance-related topics. The Department is supported by the research centre: Accounting Accountability and Governance (CRAAG), where staff are actively engaged in cross-disciplinary research based on diverse sets of data, theories, empirics and methodologies. We focus on research, education, and business collaborations. Sustainable practices and corporate governance are at the heart of our activities. Currently, comprising of 31 academics, the Department’s teaching and research interests include corporate sustainability, financial accounting and reporting, market-based accounting, non-financial and narrative disclosure, management control systems, corporate finance, auditing and assurance, human capital accounting, Islamic accounting and finance, tax avoidance, hybrid organizations and NGOs, accounting education and history, and emerging technologies in accounting and finance.We design and deliver a range of postgraduate and undergraduate degrees. We continuously improve our courses to align with industry standards and the latest research. All of our programmes are accredited. We are ranked in the top 100 accounting and finance department in the world based on the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.We have string industry connections and partner with business to guide and support their sustainability reporting. Our team includes sustainability professionals certified by the Global Reporting Initiative(GRI).About youAs an Associate Professor you will play a central role in planning and shaping one or more research area/s in the Department of Accounting. You will bring to the role a strong professional reputation, including the ability to produce world class research through a sustained publication record in leading international academic journals. You may have led major funding bids, setting up and managing the resources needed to deliver the research plan. You will act as a leader and ambassador for us across management and enterprise or other engagement activities.You will be an experienced educator with proven track record of high quality teaching, able to contribute to the development of education policy and practice and able to design and develop courses and programmes at all level (UG, MSc and MBA Level). You will be an experienced researcher able to supervise doctoral students (PhD and DBA programmes).We welcome applications from a candidate with well-established profile in the areas of corporate governance, sustainability accounting and reporting, financial accounting, management accounting, auditing and taxation, to join our thriving and expanding community.Your leadership skills will be evident, whether through your research, education or having held a leadership role.
