OSGA delivers world leading, multi-disciplinary programmes of teaching and research across Africa, China, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, Russia and Eastern Europe, and South Asia.About the Role:OSGA and St Antony’s College invite applications for an Associate Professor in Global and Area Studies. This permanent role, subject to a five-year review, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the MPhil in Global and Area Studies, a unique multidisciplinary programme established in 2021.The successful candidate will conduct internationally excellent research, teach and supervise graduate students, and take on academic administrative responsibilities. As Director of the MPhil programme, you will teach core and optional modules, deliver research methods training, and supervise master’s and doctoral students.Your research should explore regionally contextualised social science issues of global importance, using comparative or transnational approaches, and address regions covered by OSGA, with a preference for Africa, China, Japan, Latin America, and/or the Middle East. Research on transnational topics such as democratization, migration, gender, health, the environment, or trade is particularly welcomed.Key Responsibilities:

Experience in securing research funding, supervising graduate students, or engaging with non-academic stakeholders is desirable.Location and Benefits:The post-holder will be based at OSGA, 11 Bevington Road, Oxford, and will be a non-tutorial fellow of St Antony’s College. Benefits include a housing allowance (£2,871 p.a.) and an additional £3,155 p.a. payable upon the award of the title of Full Professor. Generous sabbatical leave and flexibility to balance teaching and research are also available.Key Dates:
