OSGA delivers world leading, multi-disciplinary programmes of teaching and research across Africa, China, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, Russia and Eastern Europe, and South Asia.About the Role:Applications are invited for an Associate Professorship in South Asian Studies.The post is offered on a full-time basis, available from 1 October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a joint appointment with Wolfson College, where the successful candidate will also be appointed to a Non-Tutorial Fellowship and membership of the Governing Body. Appointments to Associate Professorships are confirmed as permanent on successful completion of a review during the first five years.The post-holder will be based in OSGA and will devote roughly 70% of their time to the Contemporary South Asian Studies Programme (CSASP) and 30% of their time to the Programme in Global and Area Studies (GAS).The successful candidate will be expected to engage actively in research programmes of the School and to contribute through world-class publications to the School and University’s international reputation for research excellence. Further responsibilities include teaching and supervising at graduate level, contributing fully to academic administration and examining as well as to the running and development of CSASP and the MPhil in Global and Area Studies, proportionate to the balance of the role. As a Governing Body Fellow of Wolfson College, the candidate will be expected to act as student adviser, to participate in the College Committee system and in its Governing Body meetings. We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose expertise is anchored in politics or political economy.
