Deaprtment of Education, 15 Norham Gardens, Oxford, OX2 6PYAssociate Professorship of Geography EducationDepartment of Education in association with Rueben CollegeThe department of Education, in association with Rueben College, are seeking to appoint a full-time Associate Professor of Geography Education. The appointment will be initially for five years at which point, upon completion of a successful review, the post-holder will be eligible for reappointment to the retiring age.The Associate Professorship is available from October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will be made in association with a non-tutorial fellowship at Rueben College, further details of the fellowship can be found in the job description.Your main responsibilities will be to contribute substantially to teaching and supervision in the Geography PGCE and the MSc Learning and Teaching programme offered by the Department of Education. You will develop and carry out high quality research, relevant to learning or teacher learning in geography education, drawing on this activity to inform all work related to the above programmes. You will be required to take on administrative and examining duties as requested by the department.The successful candidate should have:§ a strong first degree, or equivalent;§ a doctorate, or equivalent, relevant to the field of geography education§ the ability to link research in the area of geography education to larger theoretical debates in education and the social sciences.§ The ability to obtain and manage research grants and manage contract research staff§ substantial experience of teaching, supervision and examining at higher degree level;§ a strong record of collaboration and team work;§ expertise in a wide range of research methods.Further information (including details about how to apply) can be obtained from the further particulars.
