Associate Program

JOB DESCRIPTION

Provide specialized support and effective technical analyzes to policy and program activities that effectively address food assistance needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (non-exhaustive)

  • Provide technical assistance and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and procedures in the subject area to ensure that they fit within broader program policies and guidelines.
  • Provide specialized project management support within the framework of specific programs to ensure that the various activities are carried out in compliance with the set objectives and in application of WFP policies and procedures.
  • Within the area of ​​responsibility, develop reports and data analyzes (for example, on food assistance needs, resource use, program status, or performance) and highlight trends or issues ensuring that documents produced comply with WFP standards and quality control.
  • Verify or ensure accurate and timely recording of data relevant to the technical area (e.g. assistance programs and food security and vulnerability assessments) and ensure consistency of information presented to stakeholders .
  • Liaise with colleagues to support collaboration, implementation and
  • effective monitoring of ongoing project activities .
  • Consult and communicate with partners, organizations, non-governmental organizations and public establishments present locally in order to conduct precise analyzes of food security and guarantee the efficiency of food assistance.
  • Assist in capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national governments in the technical area under consideration.
  • Play the role of contact person for resolving various questions and operational problems encountered in the technical field considered.
  • Supervise or review the work of other support staff and provide practical advice and guidance, to help achieve objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
  • Apply standard emergency preparedness practices to verify that WFP is able to respond quickly and deploy necessary resources to affected areas at the onset of crises.

MINIMUM STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. Degree in  political science, social sciences, economics, management, statistics, nutrition, public administration, economics, international relations would be an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in oral and written communication in the UN language used in the duty station and in the language of the duty station, if different.

Experience:

  • At least 6 years of experience in the emergency field.
