Since 1992, the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme (“the UNITWIN Programme”) has promoted inter-university cooperation and networking to enhance institutional capacities through knowledge sharing, exchange and collaborative work. Higher education and research institutions worldwide pool resources to address pressing challenges and contribute to the development of societies. The UNITWIN Programme Team is located within UNESCO’s Future of Learning and Innovation Division which is engaging in a range of activities to explore emerging issues that shape future trends in education and beyond. The aim is to steer global debates, provide guidance for education policy, and further reinforce UNESCO’s intellectual function as a global observatory and laboratory of ideas. The UNITWIN Programme needs a full-time database manager to ensure UNESCO can better leverage the expertise of the network.
Duties and requirements
Online submission and internal evaluation platform
- Support the continuous development of the online submission platform for the applications to establish UNESCO Chairs or Unitwin Networks, and renewal of agreements
- Coordinate closely with colleagues in the Bureau of Digital Business Solutions (DBS) to develop the abovementioned platform, apply the internal workflows for evaluation, and set up automatic notifications to internal/external users
- Prepare and update accompanying user guides for internal workflows and external users/applicants
Support the application and renewal processes and monitoring
- Provide technical support to the applicants and National Commissions by responding timely to the questions/inquiries
- Develop and maintain an internal tracking system for the status of applications throughout the internal evaluation process and prepare status updates by sector as needed
- Provide technical support on the use of the application to internal and external users
Database of UNESCO Chairs and Unitwin Networks
- Maintain the database of UNESCO Chairs and UNTIWIN Networks including updating contact, websites, focal points when they change, heads of universities, tracking engagement etc…
- Support the development of a public directory for the programme including adaptation of the database to required structures
Analysis and reporting
- Conduct statistical analyses for presentations and briefings, including graphical representations and written texts
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, economics, statistics, or any related field.
- Additional training in database management is an asset
Work Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in data management of which preferably one (1) year acquired at international level.
- Good knowledge of the UN system and prior relevant experience in a UN fund, programme, or specialized agency, including UNESCO
- Experience with complex and large datasets, as well as standardization of data
- Relevant experience in project management.
- Experience with SharePoint and/or Salesforce-based applications
Languages
- Excellent knowledge of English or French (oral and written) and good knowledge of the other language.
- Knowledge of other UNESCO official languages is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish).
