The Associate, Strategic Growth & Partnership (SGP) provides key support to SGP in meeting Global Communities’ business targets. The Associate supports business development research and proposal development across the Sustainable Development portfolio. The Associate will lead daily opportunity tracking (identifying, reviewing, entering, circulating, and updating new funding opportunities for Global Communities), conduct online research to help prepare for upcoming opportunities, and support proposal development under the direction of an assigned Proposal Manager. The Associate will coordinate with headquarters and field staff. This role requires passion for international development, resourcefulness, skills as a self-starter, detail orientation, analytical thinking, the ability to prioritize multiple competing requests, and proactive synthesizing of information.
Responsibilities
Business Development Intelligence Research:
- Support Global Communities’ business pipeline development; business intelligence gathering and analyses; client engagement and diversification; and organization-wide orientation to development.
- Lead daily tracking of new and upcoming funding opportunities for key donors. Circulate updates to senior leadership using Salesforce.
- Support efforts to gather information about potential donors or partners, research new funding opportunities and target prospects, analyze grant/funding application guidelines and summarize analysis for dissemination.
- Assist with data entry and retrieval into/from key information tracking systems and databases and support the design and creation of relevant reports and analysis.
Proposal Support:
- Support Managers in pursuit of target bids in roles such as, but not limited to the following:
- Supporting desk reviews for country background information, sectoral best practices, competitor strengths and weaknesses, partners and staff identification, and other information needed for successful capture activities and proposal design.
- Drafting, formatting, and editing of capability statements, past performance references, resumes, staff bios, and other annexes as required for proposals and opportunity positioning efforts.
- Managing proposal-specific procurements and consultant agreements under the direction of the Proposal Manager.
- Developing and updating proposal cost centers under the direction of the Proposal Manager.
- Providing administrative support for partner deliberations and meetings, design and review sessions, and proposal preparation sessions.
General Administrative Support:
- Supports SGP knowledge management systems including our internal SharePoint site and organization-wide BD HUB site, ensuring updated materials are available.
- Supports development of SGP tools and orientation materials/trainings.
- Manages travel requests and expense reports as needed through Concur.
- Manages consultant agreements and procurements for the business development team as needed including vendor selection and invoicing.

- High proficiency in Windows Suite tools including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Fluency in English, written and oral. Abilities in another language preferred
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or a minimum of four years of related work experience.
- Experience conducting research and composing clear, structured findings analysis and summaries, and articulate, persuasive language for presentations.
- A passion for the mission and values of Global Communities.

Location and Work Schedule
This selected candidate can be based in Silver Spring or San Diego, CA. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without any restriction. This role is on a hybrid/telework schedule. The selected candidate is expected to work at least twice as week (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday) from either our San Diego or Silver Spring office.
Salary and Compensation
The estimated salary for this position is between 52,222 – 65,278. Final salary will be based on several factors including qualifications, geographic location, experience, and internal equity. Global Communities provides a comprehensive benefits package; please note that this position is not eligible for allowances.
