Our graduates are leaders in a diverse array of natural resources-related companies, academic institutions, provincial and federal agencies, and non-profit organizations.Position SummaryThe Department of Renewable Resources ( ) invites applications for a 3-year full-time academic teaching staff (ATS, Assistant Lecturer) position in Sustainable Forest Management with the possibility of extension.The ATS in Sustainable Forest Management will be a pivotal member of the departmental academic staff, focused on teaching, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and administering our in Sustainable Forest Management and International Forestry.Duties

• Teaching the equivalent of four 3-credit courses to students in our undergraduate and graduate forestry programs.
• Advising students in developing capping research projects in the realm of Forestry and Wildlife Management.
• Support selected students with outstanding capping research projects to publish their work.
• Leadership in developing courses and the curriculum of our Masters of Forestry program with Specialization in Sustainable Forest Management (MF-SFM).
• Leadership in maintaining professional accreditation of the MF-SFM and the BSc in Forestry programs.
• Chairing the adjudication committee for MF-SFM program admissions.
• Administrative contributions to our International Forestry (MF-IF) and Environmental Wildlife Conservation (MF-EWC) specializations.
• Communications with professional organizations and industry stakeholders.

Qualifications

• A PhD degree in forestry, forest science, or related fields.
• A strong understanding of university pedagogy, student-centred learning techniques and experiential learning approaches.
• A track record of undergraduate or graduate-level teaching.
• The desire to build a university career focused on student education for professional careers.
• Ability to work collaboratively and engage with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
• Practical experience in forest management and wildlife management.
• Mentoring experience in classroom settings or university-level research settings.
• Experience in program development and program administration.
• Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Registered Professional Forester).
• Record of scientific publications.
