CIMMYT seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Machinery Development Officer to be part of the CSISA-MEA project objectives.

The country of post is Bangladesh, we are seeking 2 candidates for the following locations: Faridpur and Cox’s Bazar.

Duties and Responsabilities:

  • Implement fieldwork under the concerned hub manager’s supervision and guidance from the CSISA- MEA project leader.
  • Assist supervisor in Developing plan to set up DIP activity to achieve project goals and timely implement all targets with own lead within the project duration.
  • Develop new ideas regarding manufacturing low cost, economic, climate smart and locally manufacturable agricultural machines in collaboration with research institutes and manufacturing stake holders.
  • Ensure need based extension activities in field level to extend newly developed agricultural machines towards farmers and MSPS in collaboration with DAE and other non-government machine companies.
  • Technically assist and motivate local manufacturers in manufacturing new agricultural machines in their own workshop and introduce them with different time saving, labor saving and quality ensuring technologies.
  • Assist in the field demonstrations of new agricultural and irrigation machinery, in close partnership with core partner organization and the private sector. Ensuring that project machines assigned to you are maintained properly and in good working order. 
  • Organize and assist in training on agriculture machines or other topics for Local Service Providers (LSPs), Government staff and others as required by the project.  
  • Interact and organize meetings with various stakeholders and partners, with a particular emphasis on the core partner organization and private sector, to discuss, streamline, and implement new agricultural machineries in the field in a coordinated way.
  • As needed coordinate participatory trials on agricultural machinery, crop and resource conserving crop management in cereal-based systems as needed
  • Collect and analyze monitoring data as per the need of the project.  
  • Prepare need based activity report and assist supervisor in compiling project reports. 
  • Help form partnerships with a wide-range clientele (including local service providers, farmers, NGOs, private and public sector organizations, and scientists) to evaluate and deliver agricultural machinery technologies that are appropriate to the diverse cropping systems and socioeconomic environments of Southern Bangladesh
  • Perform any other job-related duties as instructed by CSISA scientists as needed.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering.
  • At-least 3-4 years of experience working in NGO/ UN /CGIAR/ research organizations
  • Experienced working in multi-cultural organisations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Bangla and English.
  • Ability to keep updated with latest developments and open to learn anything new.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities.
  • The selected candidate should exhibit the following competencies: Creative thinking. Teamwork,Problem-solving and decision-making.

The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
