BHF CRE interdisciplinary PhD studentships in cardiovascular sciences (non-clinical)

Applications are invited for 3-year non-clinical PhD studentships based at Cambridge University.The BHF Cambridge Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) is a world-leading Interdisciplinary Research Centre. Our overarching scientific objective is to advance understanding of pathobiology, diagnosis, prevention, and therapy of cardiovascular disease, including implementation of new diagnostics/treatment, by applying our combined expertise in hypothesis-driven and assumption-free approaches. We achieve this through interdisciplinary capabilities in clinical, experimental, population and data sciences. The CRE research themes are:
PhD students will be jointly supervised two supervisors, with at least one being a CRE Theme Lead or Co-applicant. Applicants should explore current areas of CRE research and identify a potential supervisor from this list of all 21 CRE Theme leads and Co-applicants ( ) and where possible a second supervisor. Before applying, it is highly recommended that you contact a potential supervisor to discuss research interests and possible projects and for help to develop your research proposal. You should seek approval for your application from a potential supervisor who is a CRE Theme Lead or Co-applicant. Research proposals should either cross traditional research disciplines or involve two or more of the CRE themes listed above.Applicants are expected to hold at least a first or upper second-class degree from a UK University or an equivalent standard from an overseas university (( ) in a subject relevant to the proposed area of study. International students able to cover all additional costs of overseas tuition fees through scholarships or funding schemes will also be considered.
