About the Project
A signature aspect of biosphere is the frugality of sensors and processing power. Biological systems adopt to live in an environment through co-evolution with all the species in that ecosystem. This makes their sensors and processing capabilities finetuned to their lifegoals. This enables them to achieve much better system performances than human-made systems using much less computational power. In this PhD project, the scholar would work on developing sensors and processor systems and algorithms to do sensing and/or communication (often called as joint communication and sensing (JCAS)) for well-defined tasks. These systems would be inspired by biological systems like weakly electric fish or bats or dolphins.
The ideal candidate is expected to have strong experience (or willing to learn) in the following domains.
- Radar and communication system design and signal processing.
- Software defined radio.
- ML/AI algorithm design and implementation in embedded system.
- Experiment design and running of experiments.
In terms of soft skills, we would appreciate if you are used to or willing to adopt working with industrial and multi-disciplinary collaborators.
How to apply:
Email the supervisor the following documents.
- Your resume
- Publications or/and project reports from your previous work
- Link to your GitHub page
- A short motivation
Shortlisted applicants would be given a short research assignment followed by an online interview.
