By joining us, you will contribute to this effort in collaboration with scientists, engineers and biologists from both InstaDeep and BioNTech and have the opportunity to contribute to scientific papers submitted to leading conferences and journals.In this position, you will be working closely with our team of computer vision exports to help build the next generation of biomedical computer vision tools. The output of this work will help medical practitioners and scientists advance our understanding of personalized treatments that improve clinical outcomes and profoundly impact peoples’ lives. \nResponsibilities

  • Follow and communicate the latest developments in biomedical computer vision.
  • Design, implement and deliver performant and scalable algorithms based on state-of-the-art machine learning and neural network methodologies using distributed computing systems on-premises and cloud infrastructures.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and statistical modeling to explain and improve models.
  • Report results clearly and efficiently, internally and externally, verbally and in writing.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and modular code with precise documentation.

Requirements

  • Master’s, PhD degree or equivalent experience in applied mathematics, computer science, or related quantitatively focussed scientific field.
  • 1+ year experience in deep learning applied in biomedical imaging, demonstrated via previous work, publications, contributions to open source projects, or coding competitions.
  • Experience working with histopathology data such as H&E-stained images, or multi- or high-plex IHC data.
  • Strong software engineering experience (Python, Linux, Git, Docker).
  • Strong experience using a machine learning framework (PyTorch (ideally), JAX).
  • Data science experience including data visualisations, clustering, statistical testing and regression/classification methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Desirables

  • Proven track-record of research publications in respectable journals.
  • Experience with foundation ML model training.
  • Experience with MLOps including DevOps & CI/CD
  • Specialist computing knowledge, such as high-volume data storage and processing, high-performance computing, or deployment.
  • Experience working with sensitive clinical data.
  • Experience with and desire to mentor colleagues.
  • Experience bringing machine learning research to production.
