Yeovil Town Council
We are looking for a full time Biodiversity Ranger to champion wildlife and help visitors
engage with nature at the Green Flag Award winning Yeovil Country Park. You will need a passion
for nature, broad practical skills and demonstrable experience in surveying and stewardship of
protected species.
Yeovil Country Park covers 157 acres of diverse habitat, from woodlands,
grasslands, reed beds, waterways and heritage parkland. It is a popular and well-loved urban
fringe site. You will be jointly responsible for managing habitats and maintaining
infrastructure, and will take a lead on habitat and species surveys, engaging visitors,
volunteers and groups. The small County Park team includes a Countryside Ranger and Casual
Ranger, supported by many dedicated volunteers and an active community Friends group.
The post
holder will need creative skills to develop new events and experience of grant funding would be
a bonus. As Biodiversity Ranger for the Town the post holder will visit other green spaces
managed by the Council to advise and assess opportunities for biodiversity enhancements.
