Position Summary
A Mechanic is responsible for providing mechanical support to equipment at various job sites. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Diagnose and troubleshoot all equipment reporting any issues or malfunctions.
Repair and test various equipment systems as required (i.e., engines, generators, hydraulic, 12-volt DC systems, electrical systems, and components).
Perform routine maintenance on various equipment as required and ensure the vessel is in proper working condition prior to release for use.
Fill out accurate inspections, service records, & repair documents.
Clean, preserve, paint, and prepare mechanical parts for assembly and installation and/or long-term storage
Assists with the Installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of various mechanical and hydraulic equipment; including but not limited to winches, gearboxes, clutches, and pumps
Utilize various power tools; including but not limited to grinders, magnetic drills, and hydraulic power pumps and jacks
Perform other duties as assigned
Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment.
Qualifications
0-1 year of mechanical experience
Trade Certification or equivalent helpful, but not necessary
Electrical experience desired
Must have reliable transportation to and from the job site
Travel (by land, air, and water) to field locations is required, transportation paid.
Ability to work a 45-hour work week M-F, overtime as needed
Ability to work 7 days/week as needed
Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot hydraulic drawings and systems
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and mechanical drawings
Proficient knowledge of proper installation procedures of rotating mechanical equipment
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment
Proficient knowledge of equipment related to the construction industry
Ability to communicate with contractors, vendors, and other trades
Strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with craft workers under his/her supervision and management/supervision.
Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.
Requirements
• The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site,
so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
• Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor
weather conditions
• Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
• May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access
required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and
maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
• Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
• May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across
construction/industrial site
• Must have required tools
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, fit for duty medical and background
check
• Must possess a valid Driver’s license
• TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Credential (preferred)
• Must be able to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels.
