Budget & schedule monitoring & control

Your responsibilities

The HL-LHC (HiLumi) Project is a major upgrade of the LHC accelerator, increasing the integrated luminosity over the first 10 years of collisions by a factor 10 with respect to the LHC design goal. Making use of cutting-edge technologies for the accelerator’s main elements, the project foresees also significant expansion of underground infrastructure. The project is structured in 20 work-packages (WP) of budget ranging from some millions to some hundreds million CHF, for a total budget above 1,150 millions of CHF. Collaborations with European and international institutes cover a considerable part of the scope, for an in-kind budget of 100MCHF.

As successful candidate for a ORIGIN position you will :

  • Join the Monitoring & Control Office in the Planning section of HL-LHC.
  • Act as the link-person to several HiLumi work-packages.
  • Structure activities in EVM.
  • Manage cost change processes and reprofile expenses.
  • Project real cost vs. planned cost.
  • Monitor WP schedule, collaboration, and purchasing plan.
  • Assess cost, performance, and schedule risks.
  • Implement financial and schedule changes.
  • Prepare reports, minutes, and EVM metrics for Project Steering Meetings.
  • Contribute to the annual Cost & Schedule review.
  • Take and propagate minutes for relevant Project Steering Meetings.
  • The position presents opportunities for learning and implementing Project management tools and processes in the exciting framework of one of the largest accelerator technologies projects on the scene, in a truly international environment.
